ToggleThere are so many different types of detail sprays available. How do you know which one is right for you? For several years, I have been using Chemical Guys detail sprays with great success. A powerful combination I have discovered involves using the Hydrospeed Ceramic Quick Detail Spray and the Hydrocharge Plus High-Gloss Hydrophobic SiO2 Ceramic Spray Coating in my cleaning routine. This duo worked exceptionally well for me when I maintained my 1965 Mustang Fastback, allowing me to avoid traditional water washing and prevent rust.
Price differences
The Hydrocharge Plus High-Gloss Hydrophobic SiO2 Ceramic Spray Coating is quite expensive, costing nearly $40 for a 16 oz spray bottle. However, there is a reason for the price tag. You don’t need to use it daily. I personally apply this spray after every wash or in between multiple quick-detail events.
On the other hand, the Hydrospeed Ceramic Quick Detailer costs $25 for 16 oz or $70 per gallon. I prefer the gallon option, as I go through this spray much faster than any other. It may seem like overkill, but I typically spray down my car with this product after every drive.

How do I use them together?
Whenever I do a complete wash of my BMW M3, I finish by giving the car a once-over with the Hydrocharge Plus High-Gloss Hydrophobic SiO2 Ceramic Spray. I use this to build up the hydrophobic properties and enhance the paint’s brilliance. The water at my house is exceptionally hard well water; even though it is softened and filtered, it is still tough on my car. As a result, I feel compelled to go the extra step and finish the wash process by applying this additional layer of protection and high-gloss shine.
After driving and accumulating dust, pollen, and pollutants, I use the Hydrospeed to maintain the car without needing a complete wash. This process continues until rain brings extra pollutants and contaminants to the car. Then the process starts anew:
Wash > Hydrocharge > Hydrospeed > Hydrospeed > Hydrocharge+ > Hydrospeed > Rain! = Repeat Process
Wash > Hydrocharge > Hydrospeed > Hydrospeed > Rain! = Repeat Process
Wash > Hydrocharge > Hydrospeed > Rain! = Repeat Process
My favorite combination
In conclusion, this combination is my current go-to for maintaining my car’s shine, and it is my personal favorite product duo as of 2023. Let me know if you try this out as well!

Side note on polishing cloths
The Mr. Siga Professional microfiber towels are the best I have found when it comes to detailing my car. The extra large 15.7 x 23.6 inch towels have two different sides which many others don’t. The plush side is great for removing dirt , while the soft side is ideal for polishing and buffing. I have honestly not found a better cloth.
100% Recommended buy! In fact, I’m going to buy more right now!
